After years of debate and consideration, the LGBTQ+ community has finally settled on a new acronym that they believe better represents the diverse array of identities within their community. The new acronym, which is the longest yet, includes a whopping 42 characters.
The new acronym is:
LGBTQIAPNCFFMAGP2SWFGSBJJABCDKLMNOQRSTUVW&
The decision to add even more letters to the acronym comes from a place of inclusivity, according to advocates of the new acronym. Each letter in the acronym represents a different identity or experience that someone within the queer community might identify with.

&: And more, because this community is constantly growing and evolving
"We want to make sure that everyone feels represented and included," says LGBTQ+ advocate Alex Kim. "We know that some people might look at this acronym and feel overwhelmed, but each letter represents a unique identity or experience that someone in our community might identify with. We believe that this new acronym is a step toward true inclusivity."
Of course, not everyone is on board with the new acronym. Some have argued that it's too long and unwieldy, and that it will be impossible to remember. Others worry that adding more letters will only serve to further divide an already fragmented community.
But for those who support the new acronym, it's a necessary step toward making sure that every member of the queer community feels seen and valued.
"We're not just adding letters for the sake of it," says Kim. "Each letter represents a real person with a valid identity. We want to make sure that everyone knows they have a place in our community."
Only time will tell if the LGBTQIA+PNCFFMAGCPTWFGSBJJABCDKLMNOQRSTUVWXY&Z acronym catches on. But one thing is certain: the queer community will continue to evolve and change, and it's up to all of us to make sure that every member is included and valued.
