In a shocking revelation, local gay man Keith Johnson recently discovered that not all straight men are secretly harboring desires to switch teams. Johnson, who had long believed that he had a special ability to "convert" straight men, was surprised to learn that his friend Steve had no interest in experimenting.
"I mean, I don't get it," Johnson said. "Steve is totally hot, and he's always been really nice to me. I thought for sure he was at least a little curious."
Johnson's discovery has left him feeling confused and somewhat betrayed.
"I've been living in this bubble where I assume that every straight guy I meet is just waiting for me to come along and sweep him off his feet," he said. "Now I have to face the fact that maybe, just maybe, some people are actually happy with their sexual orientation."
Experts say that Johnson's experience is not uncommon among gay men, who may feel pressure to constantly seek out new conquests.
"Part of it is just the thrill of the chase," said Dr. Elizabeth Green, a psychologist who specializes in LGBTQ issues. "Gay men may enjoy the challenge of trying to win over a straight man, even if deep down they know it's unlikely to happen."
For Johnson, the realization that not all straight men are interested in him has been a difficult one to accept. But he says he's determined to move on and find happiness elsewhere.
"I'm not giving up on love," he said. "Maybe I'll find someone who's actually into guys, instead of just pretending to be."
